“Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors.”
All of Scripture should be like a treasure to the believer. We should delight in the law of God, because it was given for our good, both here and for eternal purposes. The Gospel especially is a joyful story to us. The doctrines of peace, pardon, righteousness, and salvation by Christ, are all amazing to us. The promise of a right relationship with our Father, gives more joy than winning the lottery.
All of these testimonies give us direction. Any others are not good counselors. However, we seek counsel from the world, or listen to our own, spirit-less voices. God’s words must seen as most important in terms of the direction of our lives. Direction from anywhere else will not lead to spiritual fruit.
