Psalm 119:21

Psalm 119:21

“You rebuke the insolent, accursed ones, who wander from your commandments.”

An unrepentant, persistently proud person is not in a right relationship with the Lord. He might think of himself as righteous, but he is deceived. He has gone in the very opposite direction of the essence of God’s law, which is that he should walk humbly with the Lord.

A proper response to the gospel includes humble repentance from sins, and faith in Christ’s atoning work on the cross. A response that doesn’t include repentance, falls short of the bible’s clear message. Repent and believe is a bit more than the typical message we hear in American evangelicalism. Easy believism doesn’t produce fruit, and fruit is the proof that we are really saved.
