Job 36:10…”He makes them listen to correction and commands them to repent of their evil.” The Lord places His Holy Spirit in those who are saved. The truly converted are marked by the kind of miraculous transformation that can only occur by God, through His Spirit, setting His affection on them, changing them, and giving them a new life and with it new desires. If we repent and believe, and if we produce this kind of crop (Matthew 13), then we can have full assurance that we will be preserved by Him, and are guaranteed the inheritance of one day being with Christ forever in heaven. Those who are His are set apart by their holiness, love, and unity, particularly when compared against the world. This kind of Christian fruit (or crop) is displayed especially in the context of the local church (Romans 12), as we relate vertically to the Lord, and horizontally to each other in covenant membership. Christians attempting to live life outside the context of the local church are like drivers attempting to navigate a tortuous mountain road at night with no headlights. It can be done, but it’s extremely unwise.
