Job 33:19…”Or someone may be chastened on a bed of pain with constant distress in their bones.” Job complained of his diseases, and thought they were brought about by his disobedience. His friends did so too, but Elihu shows that God often afflicts the body for good to the soul. This thought will be of great use for our being sanctified by sickness, which God uses to cause us to depend on Him more. Pain is the fruit of the fall of man. Yet, by the grace of God, the pain of the body is often made a means of good to the soul. Christ died to bring us into a right relationship with the Father by becoming righteousness for us, but this doesn’t include perfect health in this life. Only when Jesus returns or we are called home to heaven will we experience glorification of our bodies.
