Job 31:12

Job 31:12…”It is a fire that burns to Destruction; it would have uprooted my harvest.” Job had fought against lust in his life, and describes here the dangers associated with it. Lust is a fire in the soul, and if we indulge it, we are said to burn. It consumes all that is good there, and distorts our conscience because it feels right. However, it is a fire that kindles God’s wrath, which, if not quenched by the blood of Christ, will lead to eternal destruction. Burning lusts bring certain eternal burning judgments. We need to take a personal spiritual inventory regularly, and also lean on those who know us well in our church for accountability and encouragement.
