Job 29:2

Job 29:2…”How I long for the months gone by, for the days when God watched over me.” Job proceeds to describe why he was content previously. Although he does not explicity point it out here, it had nothing to do with earthly prosperity. A gracious soul delights in pleasing God, not in pleasing the world. Four things were then very pleasant to Job:

1. The confidence he had in the God’s protection.

2. The enjoyment he had of God’s love for him.

3. The communion he had with God’s word.

4. The assurance he had of God’s presence.
