Job 11:18

Job 11:18…”You will be secure because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.” Zophar exhorts Job to repentance, and gives him encouragement, yet mixed with hard thoughts of him. The major problem with Job’s friends is their distorted idea of euphoric hope in this life. Zophar thought that worldly prosperity was always the lot of the righteous, and that Job was to be deemed a hypocrite unless his prosperity was restored. This is typical of man-centered theology; though mixed with some truth, it contains enough fallacy to be extremely misleading and therefore dangerous.
