Job 9:22…”It is all one; therefore I say, He destroys both the blameless and the wicked.” Job touches briefly upon the main point now in dispute. His friends maintained that those who are righteous and good always prosper in this world, and that only the wicked are in misery and distress. He disagrees, and says that on the contrary it is a common thing for the wicked to prosper, and the righteous to be greatly afflicted. Christ’s atonement does not include perfect health and abundant wealth in this life. He absorbed God’s wrath for the forgiveness of sins, but sickness and death are still a consequence of the fall. Also, using Jesus as a means to obtain wealth is a horrible distortion of the gospel, and any teaching related to this heretical idea is false.
